Santanyí Autumn Fair

On a Saturday in mid to late October (the first one from the 18th) Santanyí holds Sa Fira, its autumn fair. At 10:00 it opens with a cercavila (street parade) by the old town gate and a release of homing pigeons; then more than 230 stalls of crafts and local produce, animals, horses, vintage cars and old carts fill Carrer Bernat Vidal i Tomàs and the centre. There are xeremiers, ball de bot folk dancing, a short organ concert at midday in the church of Sant Andreu, bunyols (fritters) on Carrer des Rafalet and a food showcase from local restaurants. At night there is a correfoc (fire run) and a party in Plaça Major. Tip: park at the edge of town and walk up, as the centre is closed to traffic.
