Getting around

Parking in Cala Ratjada

Cala Ratjada is small, and in summer the streets in the centre and by the harbour fill up early. The practical option is to leave the car in one of the open-air car parks on the surrounding streets, several of them free, and walk: the centre, the harbour and Son Moll beach are just minutes apart.

Local tip: for Cala Agulla, the big beach, go before 10 am or after 5 pm, because its car park fills up; you can also walk there from town in about 20 minutes.

For Cala Agulla the rules have changed: since May 2026 a barrier has closed the main access to cars, inside the Llevant Natural Park, and the local police watch the accesses. Don't try to drive down to the beach: leave the car in the municipal car park at Clot de sa Grava, an old quarry, and walk on from there. A larger new public car park has been approved, but there's no opening date yet.

In town, the usual mistake is driving down to the harbour looking for a space: the streets are narrow and in July and August queues form. Park on the upper streets and walk down. If you're staying in Cala Ratjada, leave the car where it is and get around on foot: Son Moll, the harbour and the Capdepera lighthouse are close by, and Cala Agulla is an easy walk. For Cala Mesquida or Cala Torta, set off early in summer.

Frequently asked questions

Can you park at Cala Agulla?

Not next to the beach any more: since May 2026 a barrier has closed the main access to cars, and getting past it means a double fine. The town hall points drivers to the municipal car park at Clot de sa Grava, from where you walk. You can also walk from central Cala Ratjada.

Is there free parking in Cala Ratjada?

Yes, there are open plots and streets without paid parking in the upper part of town, though in summer they fill up by mid-morning. Arrive before 10 am or late in the afternoon, and avoid driving down to the harbour, where there's hardly ever a space.
