Local set lunch menu
The menú del día is the best-value meal on the island: on weekdays at lunchtime, for €12–18 depending on the place, you get a first course, a main, dessert or coffee, bread and sometimes a drink. It's what working people eat, and that's a good sign: home cooking, dishes that change every day and generous portions. It's served Monday to Friday, roughly 1 to 3:30 pm, and in many places it runs out if you arrive late. Ask for the day's dishes even if they're not on the English menu; at weekends hardly anyone offers it.
