A special table with a view
For a meal to remember, the view matters as much as the food: terraces over cliffs, gardens looking onto an olive valley, rooftops above the old town or tables right by a cove. These are places with careful cooking and prices to match, where it's worth booking and specifically asking for the terrace or window table, as the best ones go first. At lunchtime the light is beautiful and, with some shade, it's more comfortable than later; if you're after the sunset, book for golden hour. Many close one weekday.
