Which beach when the tramontana blows

The tramontana is the cold wind from the north and north-east. It hits the north and north-east coast head-on: the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia and the Artà peninsula, where it whips up rough seas. On those days don't go there, Formentor included.

The sheltered option is the Bay of Palma: the Serra de Tramuntana and the Pyrenees protect it and you barely notice the tramontana. Here are a couple of coves on the bay.

In Explore, «Which beach today?» sorts the beaches by the forecast wind and puts the sheltered ones first.
