Palma Ferry Port

As the primary maritime gateway to the island, the Port of Palma connects Mallorca with mainland Spain and other Balearic destinations. It is a modern hub for both high-speed ferries and luxury cruises, located just minutes from the historic city center.

The first thing to know is that the port is long: ferries leave from several terminals (estaciones marítimas) spread along the quay, west of the seafront promenade, and each company (Baleària, Trasmed, GNV) uses its own. The terminal number is on your ticket; check it before you order a taxi, as the terminals are quite far apart. Cruise ships berth in a different part of the port.

If you're boarding with a car, remember that central Palma is a camera-controlled low emission zone: to reach the port from outside the city, come in on the motorway and ring road rather than crossing the centre. Allow plenty of time, especially for summer night sailings and on Sunday afternoons, when lots of cars arrive at once. On foot, the terminals are a long way from the old town; with luggage, take a taxi or bus.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get from Palma airport to the ferry port?

The most direct option is a taxi, which is quick outside rush hour. By bus, EMT Palma links the airport with the city centre, and from there other lines run along the seafront to the port; check current routes on emtpalma.cat.

Which terminal does the ferry leave from in Palma?

It depends on the company and the route: the port has several ferry terminals along the quay. The terminal number appears on your ticket or booking confirmation, and it's worth checking before you set off.
