Boat trips: private or shared
Seeing the island from the sea changes the plan: coves no road reaches, sea caves and great snorkelling. There are three ways to do it: a shared boat or catamaran trip, the cheapest, on a fixed schedule; a private sailing boat or motorboat with a skipper, to go at your pace and pick coves by the wind; or a licence-free boat, if you want to drive it yourself in a sheltered area. The sea is usually calmer in the morning, and at sunset sailing trips are the most beautiful. Book ahead in summer and ask what's included (drinks, food, snorkel gear) and what happens if it's cancelled because of the sea.
