How to hike up to Castell d'Alaró

There are two ways up to Castell d'Alaró:

  • On foot from the village of Alaró: the municipal route is about 4.2 km and takes around 3 h 45 min, easy to moderate.
  • By car to Es Verger, on a narrow, winding road, and from there about 30 minutes on foot along a cobbled path.

Cars can't reach the castle and there's no bus nearby, so the last stretch is always on foot: wear walking shoes. At the top are the castle ruins, the oratory of the Mare de Déu del Refugi and a mountain hostel-refuge on the GR 221.
