La Beata Triumphal Cart Parade in Palma
View in the app · free, no sign-upOn the third Saturday of October Palma parades the triumphal cart of Saint Catalina Tomàs, the Mallorcan saint born in Valldemossa in 1531, through the centre. It is the oldest triumphal cart in Mallorca: it goes back to the celebrations of her beatification in 1792 and since 2026 it has been protected as intangible cultural heritage. At 18:30 it leaves Plaça de l'Hospital and passes along La Rambla, Via Roma, Avinguda Jaume III and Costa de la Sang to Plaça de Santa Magdalena, where the saint's body is venerated. Around 900 people from some thirty groups across the island take part: bands, xeremiers, gegants and floats, with the Beateta, a young girl playing the saint, riding on the cart. It ends with a flower offering and La Balanguera. Tip: Jaume III is a good stretch to watch from; streets close and EMT buses are diverted from 15:00 to 22:00.
