Sa Rua is Palma's big carnival parade, held on Carnival Sunday, seven weeks before Easter (2 March in 2025, 15 February in 2026). At 17:00 it sets off from La Rambla and goes along La Riera, Unió, Plaça del Rei Joan Carles I and Avinguda Jaume III to Passeig de Mallorca: floats and comparses (dance troupes; 11 floats and 36 troupes in 2026, a record) with music, choreographies and costumes that local groups and friends work on for months. It ends with a concert and prize-giving in Plaça Joan Carles I. A week earlier comes Sa Rueta, the children's parade. Tip: the best spots are La Rambla or Jaume III, where the troupes still dance with energy; dress up, everybody does, and come by bus, streets close from mid-afternoon.
