Sant Mateu in Bunyola
View in the app · free, no sign-upBunyola honours its patron, Sant Mateu, with around ten days of fiestas that end on 21 September. On the saint's day there are cercaviles (street parades) with xeremiers in the morning, the Correguda de Joies, a traditional race on Costa de ses Monges, the solemn mass in the parish church at 19:00, a ball de bot (folk dance) show and, at midnight, the fireworks that close the fiesta. The best-known event is a different one: the Correguda en Roba Interior, a race in underwear and costumes held since 2005 on a Saturday of the fiestas (in 2026, 19 September at 17:00 in Sa Plaça). There is also the Cursa de Carretons (homemade cart race) and the Pujada al Pi Ensabonat, climbing a greased pole. Tip: take the Sóller train, which stops in the village, and check the town hall programme for the race day.
