Getting around

Parking in Fornalutx

Fornalutx is a village of steep lanes and stone steps: you can't drive into the centre. There are a few small paid car parks at the entrance and around the village, and in season they fill up early.

Local tip: arrive before 10 am or late in the afternoon. If they're full, don't keep circling the narrow streets: go back to Sóller, park there and walk up via Biniaraix, a lovely walk of about an hour through orange terraces.

The main car park is on the edge of the village, at the entrance: the lower levels are paid (blue zone) and the upper ones free, although those fill first. You pay at the meter by the entrance, by card or through the app, which lets you add time without walking back to the car, and parking is free on Sundays and public holidays. The access road is narrow and steep in places: with a large van, manoeuvring is hard work.

In summer it fills before 11 am almost every day. Remember too that central Sóller is a low emission zone: if you leave the car there to walk up, use the car parks along the Carretera de Desviament and don't drive through the centre. In season there's also a TIB minibus, line 232, linking Port de Sóller and Sóller with Fornalutx via Biniaraix.
