Park in Santa Catalina

Most streets in Santa Catalina are a ZEP (special protection zone), for residents only. Don't risk it: head straight for the underground car park on Passeig Mallorca, about a 5-minute walk from the market, or the blue zone on Avinguda Argentina. If you're coming for dinner, arrive before 8 pm: by then the blue zone is full and you'll end up in a car park anyway.

The two handiest underground car parks are on the edges of the neighbourhood: Passeig de Mallorca, part of Palma's municipal network, and Porta de Santa Catalina, next to the Es Baluard museum. From either one you can walk to the market and Carrer de la Fàbrica in a few minutes. The blue zone (ORA) is paid Monday to Friday 09:00–14:30 and 16:30–20:00, and Saturdays 09:00–14:30, at the meter or with the MobiAPParc app. Outside those hours it is free, which is why it fills up in the evening.

If you are coming from outside Palma, do not cut through the centre: inside the Avingudes ring there is a camera-controlled low emission zone, and the old town's ACIRE streets only let in residents and authorised vehicles (€200 fine). And if you are staying in the centre, leave the car: Santa Catalina is a short walk from the Born.

Frequently asked questions

Is there public parking in Santa Catalina, Palma?

Yes, on the edges of the neighbourhood: the underground car parks at Passeig de Mallorca and at Porta de Santa Catalina, next to the Es Baluard museum. From either one it is a few minutes on foot to the market and Carrer de la Fàbrica.

Is Palma's blue zone free at night?

Yes. Palma's ORA is paid Monday to Friday 09:00–14:30 and 16:30–20:00, and Saturdays 09:00–14:30. It is free at night, on Saturday afternoons and on Sundays, which is why spaces in Santa Catalina disappear at dinner time.
