Club nights in Mallorca have two sides: the big venues in the nightlife areas and, especially in the city, small techno and house clubs with good sound and a local crowd. Almost all open Thursday to Saturday and don't fill up until after 2 am; on weeknights and outside summer they open fewer days. Check the venue's listings or social media to see who's playing tonight, buy your ticket online if there is one and bring ID, as they ask at the door. Get a taxi home: there's no public transport at that hour.
Mallorca's electronic scene has two speeds. In summer the big name is AMØK, a large club in S'Aranjassa a few minutes from the airport, with international DJs and a season that ends with a closing party. All year round, the underground is in Palma: Selva Club, on the Son Castelló industrial estate, with techno sessions at weekends and a serious sound system. Line-ups change every week, so check the programme and buy tickets online: nights with well-known names sell out.
Nights start late here: people have dinner around ten and clubs only fill up after midnight. To get back, book a taxi or arrange your ride before you go out, because queues at closing time are long, and do not drive if you have been drinking. Bear in mind that drinking alcohol in the street is banned in Platja de Palma, s'Arenal and Magaluf, with fines of €500 to €1,500.
Frequently asked questions
What time do techno parties start in Mallorca?
Late. People have dinner around 10 pm, have a drink in a bar and get to the club after midnight. Many electronic sessions run until dawn. Check the times on each party's ticket, as daytime parties and season closings have their own schedules.
Are there techno parties in Mallorca in winter?
Yes, but fewer. The big seasonal clubs close after summer; in Palma, venues such as Selva Club keep running weekend sessions. Check the weekly programme and buy your ticket online before you go.
