Card when getting off the bus
Yes. You must tap your card or device both when boarding and when getting off the bus. If you fail to tap out, the system will charge an automatic penalty of 0.30 € per person on your daily total.
With a contactless bank card you can pay on TIB buses, trains and the metro without buying a ticket: tap in and out with the same card or phone, and all the day's trips are charged together the following day. Your bank may hold up to €20 to check the card works, which is released automatically. In a group, tap once per person when boarding and once in total when getting off; up to 5 people can travel at a discount on one card.
You can make 2 transfers across 3 different lines as long as no more than 60 minutes pass between leaving one and boarding the next, and however long the journey, you never pay more than 4 fare stages. Watch out on EMT Palma city buses, including the airport line: there you only tap when boarding.
