Getting around

Palma Intermodal station

The Intermodal station sits under Parc de les Estacions, next to Plaça d'Espanya, and it's the island's main transport hub. Underground you'll find the SFM trains to Inca, Sa Pobla and Manacor, the metro to the University (UIB) and most TIB buses to the villages. The EMT city buses, including the A1 airport bus, stop on the square, and right next door is the Sóller train station, which is separate.

You can pay for trains and buses with a bank card. Tip: get there 10 minutes early, the bus bays are underground and it takes a moment to find your way the first time.

From the airport, EMT bus A1 drops you at Plaça d'Espanya, right above the station. Below, SFM trains run on three lines: T1 to Inca, T2 to sa Pobla and T3 to Manacor, via Inca, Sineu and Petra; metro line M1 goes up to the University. You pay by bank card at the gates or buy a ticket from the machines, and if several of you travel on one card, it must be tapped for each person on the way in and out.

Plenty of day trips start here without a car: the Sunday market in Santa Maria del Camí, Thursday's market in Inca, the Rafa Nadal Museum on the T3 to Manacor or, on TIB buses, Valldemossa, Sóller or the northern beaches. The Sóller train is a different station next door: it doesn't run from the same platforms or use the same transport card.
