Sóller train: tickets and tips
The Sóller train is a wooden train running since 1912. It links Palma and Sóller in about an hour, crossing the Serra de Tramuntana through tunnels, almond and orange groves. It leaves from its own station on Plaça d'Espanya, next to the Intermodal station. It doesn't go to Port de Sóller: that's the tram.
2026 fares: Palma–Sóller €23 single and €30 return (Palma–Bunyola €11/€19). The combined train + tram ticket Palma–Port de Sóller–Palma costs €40. Only that combined ticket is sold online (sometimes €32 at certain times); all other tickets are sold at the ticket office and only for the same day, so arrive with time to spare.
Until 1 November 2026 trains leave Palma between 10:10 and 19:40; from 2 November the winter timetable applies. Some departures stop for a few minutes at the Pujol d'en Banya viewpoint for photos. Local trick: go by train for the views and come back on the TIB bus through the tunnel, which is faster and cheaper.
In 2026 the official website lists €23 for a Palma–Sóller single, €30 for a return and €40 for the combined return train plus tram to the Port. The tram on its own is €10 per trip and is paid on board. If you want a shorter ride, you can go only as far as Bunyola (€11 single), halfway along, and use the stop to see the village or the Raixa gardens.
The timetable changes on 2 November 2026, with the winter schedule, so check the table for your date on the website before you go. For the views, sit on the right-hand side heading to Sóller. The tram from Sóller to the Port is packed mid-morning: if you're coming back to Palma by bus, TIB line 204 leaves from Port de Sóller itself, which saves you the tram back. And remember central Sóller is a low emission zone: by train or bus you get there without worrying about the car.
