Nudist beaches in Mallorca
In Spain nudism is legal on any beach, although on urban or family beaches people usually wear swimwear (and some towns regulate it). The best known nudist spots in Mallorca are stretches of Es Trenc (away from the Ses Covetes and Colònia de Sant Jordi entrances), Cala Varques, Cala Torta and Sa Canova in Artà. They're natural beaches with hardly any facilities: bring water, shade and food, and respect other beachgoers. Topless sunbathing is normal on almost any beach.
Beyond the well-known spots, nudism is common on other beaches too: Es Caragol, next to Cap de ses Salines, reached on foot in a few minutes; El Mago and Caló des Monjo, two small coves in Calvià; the stretches furthest from the access points at Platja de Muro and Cala Mesquida; Cala Matzoc in Artà; and Llucalcari, between Deià and Sóller, rocky and the hardest to reach. On almost all of them, nudists gather at the far ends, away from beach bars and car parks.
Before heading to Cala Varques, note that it has no car park: the access track has been closed to cars with a barrier since 2018, and there is a yellow line on the Porto Cristo–Portocolom road next to it. Park only where it is legal and take care if you walk along the roadside. And the basic rule on any beach: do not take photos of other people.
Frequently asked questions
Is nudism legal on all beaches in Mallorca?
In Spain nudism is legal on any beach, but some town halls regulate it and on urban beaches people normally wear swimwear. In Mallorca almost no beach is officially signposted as nudist: where it is common, it happens on the stretches furthest from the access points.
Where do you park for Cala Varques?
There is no car park: the access track has been closed to cars with a barrier since 2018, and there is a yellow line on the Porto Cristo–Portocolom road beside it. Leave the car wherever parking is legal and walk, taking care if you go along the road.
Are there nudist beaches near Palma?
The closest are in Calvià: El Mago, one of the island's first nudist beaches, and Caló des Monjo, a small cove surrounded by Mediterranean scrub. Both are small and fill up early in summer, so go early or out of season.
