Authentic restaurants
You can spot an authentic Mallorcan restaurant straight away: a short handwritten menu, a set lunch on weekdays, tables of local families and dishes that never make the photos, like frit, arròs brut, tumbet, snails or roast suckling pig. They tend to be in inland villages, on back roads or in the old heart of the city, and the best prices are at lunchtime. Ask for the dish of the day and the house dessert. On Sundays they fill up with families: arrive early or book.
