Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis
Getting to Sa Calobra is an adventure in itself: 12 km of hairpins from Coll dels Reis, with the famous «nus de sa corbata», where the road loops over itself. At the bottom, a tunnel cut through the rock leads to the mouth of the Torrent de Pareis, a pebble cove between walls more than 200 metres high. You can also go by boat from Port de Sóller (spring to autumn), a much more relaxed option.
Parking: Sa Calobra has just over 300 spaces and in August 700–800 cars a day arrive. Signs on the road show whether it is full; when it is, a barrier and an officer divert cars to Cala Tuent (about 100 spaces). If the sign says full, don't drive down. In summer arrive before 10:00 and avoid coach hours (11:00–15:00).
Walking the Torrent de Pareis, from Escorca down to Sa Calobra, is a demanding route of several hours with scrambling: only with experience, good shoes, and never if it has rained or is about to.
