Sant Marçal Day in Marratxí
View in the app · free, no sign-upOn 30 June Marratxí celebrates its patron saint, Sant Marçal, at the church and square of the same name next to Sa Cabaneta. It is the main day of a week of fiestas. In the morning: at 10:30 the plantada (presentation) of Na Bet and En Marçal, the Marratxí giants, in Plaça de Sant Marçal; at 11:00 solemn mass with the ball de l'oferta (offering dance) by Aires des Pla de Marratxí, and at midday a dance of giants and big-heads or a vermouth with music. Throughout those days the square and its streets have a fira (fair) of local products and bars. Marratxí is a potters' town: siurells, white clay whistles painted with red and green strokes, come from the workshops of Sa Cabaneta, and on the saint's day potters usually set up stalls with siurells and ceramics by the church, among stalls of basil plants. At night the band plays in the square. Come in the morning, before the heat.
