It bills itself as “a neighbourhood bar, but cooler now”, and that sums it up. The long-standing Puput on Avinguda Diagonal in Can Picafort reopened in spring 2026 after a full refit: retro décor, a big bright interior, a terrace, and a menu that runs from the first coffee at 7am through to dinner without the kitchen shutting in between. The crowd is very local, you’ll be greeted in Mallorquí and there’s football on the screens, which the bar happily accepts as part of the deal. What sets it apart is that the food is made with care at bar prices. Mornings are about coffee, pastries and biscuits people take away; aperitivo time means gildas (anchovy, olive and pepper skewers), torreznos (crispy pork belly), tortilla and liver banderillas; for lunch or dinner it’s Russian salad, anchovy-and-butter toasts, meatballs, a calamari sandwich, a pepito steak sandwich and a cachopo that gets ordered more than you’d expect in Mallorca. The house “variado” leans on Mallorcan flavours. Leave room for pudding: the flan and the torrija (Spanish French toast) are what people remember. They’re careful with gluten, and dogs get biscuits on the terrace.
