Getting around

Parking in Alcúdia old town

You can hardly park inside Alcúdia's walls, but around them there are several open-air car parks, a number of them free, 3-5 minutes on foot from the town gates. Park outside and walk in through the Porta de Mallorca or the Porta del Moll.

Local tip: there's a market on Tuesdays and Sundays and the car parks fill up from 9 am; arrive early or park a little further out. If you're heading to the beach, Port d'Alcúdia is about 2 km away and has its own car parks by the harbour.

Explore guide

The easiest option is the open ground around the town walls. One of the largest areas is at the entrance to town, next to the Roman city of Pollentia: it is unpaved with no marked bays, so park in a way that lets others out. From there you are two minutes from the church of Sant Jaume and inside the walls. The streets within are for residents and deliveries; drivers who go in usually end up circling single-lane alleys.

On market days, Tuesday and Sunday, the car parks nearest the gates and the bullring fill first. If you arrive late, look for a space in the residential streets outside the walls, keeping off yellow lines, or come by bus: TIB buses from Palma stop beside the old town. By mid-afternoon, once people head for the beach, parking is easy again and a walk along the walls is far more pleasant.
