Getting around
Parking at Cala Mondragó
Cala Mondragó is inside the Mondragó Natural Park and has two paid car parks: s'Amarador, the closest to the main beach, and Ses Fonts de n'Alis, next to the park's information centre, from where a short path leads down.
Local tip: in July and August they fill up by mid-morning, so arrive before 10 am or after 4 pm. Don't park on the roadside outside the car parks: you'll be fined. Bring water and a parasol, as there are few facilities.
The park has two entrances, and each car park leads to a different beach: s'Amarador drops you next to the wider sandy beach, while Ses Fonts de n'Alis, beside the park information centre (open 9 am to 4 pm every day except some holidays), leads down to the Mondragó cove itself. A signposted path through the pines links the two, so you don't need to move the car to see both.
On the busiest summer days both fill up very early, sometimes before 9:30 am. If you arrive late, don't wait on the road: turn round and try again later. The bus is another option: in season, TIB line 521 links Cala d'Or and Portopetro with Cala Mondragó. From Portopetro you can also walk in along the coastal path.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have to pay to park at Cala Mondragó?
In high season the s'Amarador and Ses Fonts de n'Alis car parks are usually paid, with limited spaces, and the fee changes from year to year. Expect to pay on arrival and bring some cash just in case.
Can you get to Cala Mondragó by bus?
Yes, in season. TIB line 521 runs between Cala d'Or and Cala Mondragó, stopping in Portopetro. Timetables change through the year, so check tib.org before you go.
Which car park is better, s'Amarador or Ses Fonts de n'Alis?
It depends on the beach: s'Amarador is next to the larger sandy beach, and Ses Fonts de n'Alis is by the Mondragó cove and the park information centre. A short path through the pines links the two.
