Getting around

Parking in Santanyí

Santanyí's centre is narrow streets around the square and the church, with little space. There are several open-air car parks on the edge of town, most of them free, 5-8 minutes on foot from the centre: park there and walk in.

Local tip: on Wednesdays and Saturdays there's a market, the town fills up early and some streets are closed; arrive before 9:30 am or take the first free space as you come in. If you're going on to the coves (Mondragó, s'Almunia, Caló des Moro), leave early: their car parks fill up before the town does.

The most used public car park is at the entrance to town, on Carrer de Sebastiana Clar, a five to ten minute walk from the church and the square. On market days it fills early; if it is full, the surrounding streets usually have space. The centre is narrow streets, many one-way: it is not worth driving in to hunt for a gap.

Saturday is the busiest day; the Wednesday market is a little calmer. If you want to combine the market with a cove, bear in mind the coves fill before the town does: in season the town hall opens extra parking in Es Llombards and regulates access to Caló des Moro and s'Almunia, where up to 4,000 people have come down in a single day. Cala Figuera and Cala Santanyí, closer by, are good options for a quick swim after shopping.
