Getting around
Parking in Palma
In central Palma, don't look for a street space: the old town has restricted access (ACIRE) with cameras and a €200 fine, and everything inside the Avingudes ring road is a low emission zone (ZBE): until 31 December 2026, B, C, ECO and 0 labels may enter, and with foreign plates you need a Mobipalma authorisation. The practical move is to head straight for one of the underground public car parks (Parc de la Mar, Plaça Major, Via Roma, Olivar), which you can reach without authorisation along the signed routes, and walk from there.
If you'd rather park on the street, the blue lines are the ORA pay zone: Monday to Friday 9:00–14:30 and 16:30–20:00 and Saturday mornings; inside the Avingudes it costs €1.45 an hour, for 2 hours at most (meter or the MobiAPParc app). To save, park in a blue zone outside the Avingudes and walk in or take an EMT bus.
Palma's blue zone (ORA) is only paid during its hours: Monday to Friday 9:00–14:30 and 16:30–20:00, and Saturdays 9:00–14:30. Inside the Avingudes ring and in Cala Major it is zone 1: €1.45 an hour, for up to 2 hours, at the meter by card or coins or with the MobiAPParc app. If you overstay, you can cancel the ticket at the same meter for €6, and a fine paid within 20 days is 50% off.
For more than two hours, use a public car park: Parc de la Mar, Antoni Maura, Plaça Major, Via Roma or Olivar. They are inside the low emission zone, but you can reach them without authorisation along the signed routes. What is not forgiven is the ACIRE streets of the old town: cameras and a €200 fine even if your car has a label. If your hotel is inside, ask in advance whether it registers your number plate.
