Getting around

Parking in Pollença

Pollença's old town is narrow one-way streets around the Plaça Major and the Calvari: don't try to park there. Use the car parks on the edge of town, a 5-10 minute walk from the centre, and walk in.

Local tip: on Sundays there's a market in the Plaça Major and the town fills up early; arrive before 9:30 am or take the first free space as you come in. Respect yellow lines and residents' zones: they do fine.

Explore guide

Pollença is a town to explore on foot: from the Plaça Major to the bottom of the Calvari steps is a couple of minutes, and the 365 cypress-lined steps climb to a small chapel with a viewpoint over the rooftops. So leave the car on the plots and streets at the edge of the old town, such as the unpaved ground on Via Argentina, which is free but has narrow access. Some central streets have regulated or residents-only parking: if you see those signs, keep looking.

On Sundays the market fills the square and the surrounding lanes and traffic gets tricky early; the best browsing is between 9 am and noon, so arrive before then. If you are heading on to Formentor between 15 May and 18 October, leave the car in Port de Pollença, on the Ma-2200 service road where parking is free, and catch the 334 bus from there.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I park for free in Pollença?

On the plots and streets on the edge of the old town, such as the unpaved ground on Via Argentina, a few minutes' walk from the Plaça Major. On Sunday market days it fills early. Avoid the centre, with one-way streets, residents' zones and yellow lines that are fined.

Can you park in Port de Pollença?

Yes. Near the seafront there are paid car parks, and parking is free on the service road of the Ma-2200. The 334 shuttle bus to Formentor leaves from there, the practical way to go in season, when the road to the cape is restricted from 10 am to 10 pm.
