Castell de Capdepera i nucli antic
Capdepera Medieval Market
View in the app · free, no sign-upOn the third weekend of May, Friday to Sunday, Capdepera fills the cobbled lanes up to its castle with stalls. The Mercat Medieval recalls the Treaty of Capdepera of 1231: tradition says bonfires lit along this coast persuaded the neighbouring island, Menorca, to come to terms without a fight. There are crafts and food stalls in the streets, falconry at the castle all weekend, cercaviles (street parades) with xeremiers (pipers) and drummers, a knights' parade, street theatre and, at night, fire shows and concerts in Plaça de la Menjua. It opens on Friday at 18:00 outside the town hall, followed by the opening speech in the castle chapel. Go up to the castle in the morning, before the crowds. Everything is uphill and cobbled, so wear comfortable shoes and park lower down.
