Six-course tasting menu at a historic family estate in Cala Ratjada
View in the app · free, no sign-upAmong the hotels and apartment blocks of central Cala Ratjada there’s a farmhouse with a garden that seems to belong somewhere else. It’s what remains of farmland that was once part of the old Es Cap estate, which ran from Capdepera castle to the cape, and it has stayed, with more or less land, in the same family. Today the second generation runs it, after thirty years looking after these walls. Inside, baleta stone floors and pita-fibre rugs, with the plain elegance of an old kitchen-garden house; outside, the terrace under the vines, with few tables and plenty of quiet. There’s no à la carte. The only option is a six-course tasting menu of Mediterranean cooking with seasonal, local produce, changing with what’s available; each dish is explained at the table, and there are Mallorcan wines to go with it. At €55 without drinks, value for money is its strongest argument, which is why so many people come back every summer. It’s a place for a long, quiet dinner, for couples or a celebration; not for anyone who wants to choose their dishes or eat in a hurry.
