The Sea Club (Cala Ratjada)

The bar of a small hotel in a colonial seafront villa

On the front line of the Cala Ratjada promenade, next to Son Moll beach and about ten minutes’ walk from the harbour, The Sea Club is the restaurant and cocktail bar of a seafront hotel, open to non-residents too. A 2024 refurbishment gave it its current look: organic shapes, white, terracotta and natural materials, with a terrace open to the water. The kitchen runs from morning to night, cooking Mediterranean food meant for sharing: several starters in the middle, then a rice, a fish or a meat. What leaves the kitchen most is the creamy rice, for two at least: cuttlefish and carabinero prawns, prawns, black rice, or sirloin and mushrooms if you don’t want seafood. Next comes the fish of the day, grilled, al pil-pil or meunière, with wild sea bass and tuna the most praised; the tartare is made with Balfegó tuna. And there’s a detail you don’t expect on a seafront strip: vegetables such as leeks and aubergine get the same care as the fish, which makes it a good choice for vegetarians. Mornings bring breakfast and brunch, with avocado or salmon toast, and later in the day the terrace becomes a cocktail bar, with a DJ or live music on some summer nights. For a fish-and-rice dinner with the sea in front of you, it’s one of the most reliable on the promenade; premium-gin cocktails and market-price fish can push the bill up.
