Sa Torre Cega

View in the app · free, no sign-up

The March family's summer villa above the sea in Cala Ratjada, built from 1916 on the site of an old watchtower nicknamed «cega» (blind) because it couldn't be seen from the others. What makes it special is the garden: terraces among the pines holding most of the Fundación Bartolomé March's collection of 20th-century sculpture in the open air, with works by artists such as Chillida, Henry Moore and Rodin facing the Mediterranean. Scenes from films like «Woman of Straw», with Sean Connery, and «The Hustle», with Anne Hathaway, were shot here. You can only visit on a guided tour of about an hour, offered in several languages. The downsides: booking is required, the paths have slopes and steps, it isn't suitable for reduced mobility and, as nearly everything is outdoors, it's no good on a rainy day.
