Sant Bartomeu is Sóller's patron saint, and his fiestas fill the second half of August, with the 24th as the big day. In the morning at 10:00 the cavallets (hobby-horse dancers) and cossiers parade from the rectory down to the square and dance in front of Sant Bartomeu church; at 10:30 there is solemn mass, with their dance during the offering, and at 11:30 they dance again in the square. At night, at 22:30, the Gran Nit de Foc in Plaça de la Constitució closes the fiestas: a fire show with devils by the Esclatabutzes, the Sóller group founded in 1996. On the eve there is a revetla (street party) with music in front of the town hall. Tip for the Nit de Foc: long-sleeved cotton clothes, a cap and earplugs; with small children, stay at the sides of the square and don't put them on your shoulders.
