Palma Cathedral (La Seu)
La Seu is Palma's great symbol: a Gothic cathedral built by the sea after Jaume I's conquest in 1229, on the site of the old mosque. Inside you'll find one of the largest Gothic rose windows in the world, the canopy by Gaudí, who remodelled the interior in the early 20th century, and the Sant Pere chapel with Miquel Barceló's spectacular ceramic mural.
Tourist visits run Monday to Saturday (Saturdays mornings only) and on Sundays there's only Mass; tickets are around €10 and best bought online. Guided rooftop terrace tours run in season. Cover shoulders and knees. A unique spectacle: on 2 February and 11 November, early in the morning (doors open around 7:30, the effect peaks around 9:00), sunlight passes through the great rose window and forms an "8" below the rose window of the façade.
