Sa Ràpita Beach
More than a kilometre of fine white sand with protected dunes and pines
View in the app · free, no sign-upS'Arenal de Sa Ràpita is the western end of the great Es Trenc strand: it starts by the Club Nàutic in Sa Ràpita and runs for over a kilometre to Ses Covetes, with protected dunes and pines behind and no hotels in front. The sand is fine and white and carries on under the water, which stays shallow for a long way: children can swim and watch little fish through a mask without losing their footing, though there are a few submerged rocks to watch out for. By the harbour you get the comforts: a beach bar with sunbeds whose staff and mojitos get warm reviews, showers, accessible entry and a lifeguard in season; the yacht club restaurant is expensive. The further you walk towards Ses Covetes, the fewer people there are, and in September it can be nearly empty. The catch is parking: around the harbour it is all metered streets or a pay car park, and summer weekends fill up. As along the whole strand, some days bring seagrass to the shore, and in the afternoon, when the sea breeze (embat) picks up, or with a southerly wind, the sea gets choppy. There is hardly any shade. It is the easiest, most family-friendly way into Es Trenc: ideal for a beach day with children or the start of a long walk along the shore, less so for anyone after total solitude.
