Things to do in Son Servera
A Llevant town with Cala Millor, Cala Bona and Costa dels Pins: long beaches, golf and a square full of terraces.
Son Servera is a Llevant town with a coastline facing east, towards Menorca. In town, the most striking sight is the Església Nova: a neo-Gothic church designed by Joan Rubió, a disciple of Gaudí, which was never finished and has no roof, its arches and rose windows open to the sky; today it hosts concerts and events. Around it, the square has terraces like La placita for tapas in the shade.
Down on the coast, Cala Bona keeps its small fishing harbour, Cala Millor (shared with Sant Llorenç) has one of the longest sandy beaches in the area, and Platja de Sa Marjal and the Costa dels Pins are quieter, with pines almost down to the water. For a walk, the Puig de sa Font gives views over the bay. It is golf country too, with Pula Golf and Golf Son Servera a few minutes from town. A comfortable place for anyone who wants an easy beach, flat walks and a real town close by.
Getting there
From Palma or the airport it is a little over an hour by car on the Ma-15 towards Manacor and then on to the coast. TIB buses link Palma's Estació Intermodal with Cala Millor and Cala Bona. Parking is easy in town; on the coast in summer, spaces near the beach are harder to find.
When to go
May to October for the beach, and spring and autumn for golf and walking, once the heat eases. The market is on Friday morning in town. In winter most of the hotels and restaurants in Cala Millor close, while the town carries on with normal life.
