Sa Marjal Beach
Quiet sandy cove for locals seeking peaceful swimming away from crowds.
View in the app · free, no sign-upSa Marjal is the beach of Costa dels Pins in Son Servera, just north of Cala Millor and a world away from it: a long, narrow strand of fine sand, slightly grey and mixed with small pebbles near the water, with a pinewood behind and no hotels in sight. It's mostly locals, and even in July and August there's room – which on this coast is saying something. You park for free along the road that runs right beside the beach, a few steps from the sand. It has facilities without the crowds: lifeguards in season, showers, toilets, sunbeds and parasols to hire on one stretch (the rest is free to use) and, at one end, a beach bar-restaurant that's packed at lunchtime and even sends a launch out to anchored boats. A curiosity mentioned in recent reviews: about 200 m away there's a shipwreck, a good excuse for a swim with a mask. The seabed varies along the beach: in places the entry is gentle and sandy, in others there are stones for the first few metres and it gets deep quickly. The downsides: it faces east, so with a levante wind waves roll in, the water clouds and posidonia washes up, which on some late-summer days makes swimming unpleasant; there are a few complaints about plastic and about the smell near the toilets. Since 2020 dogs aren't allowed and there are fines. It's a beach for a quiet day with children or a book, not for postcard turquoise.
