Andalusia on Plaça de Sant Joan in Son Servera: La Placita is an Andalusian family business where Joaquín runs the floor, his wife cooks and their daughter Samara waits tables, and where people from the south say they feel at home. The speciality is Cádiz-style fried fish, crisp and dry with no excess oil: marinated dogfish (cazón en adobo), anchovies, baby squid, cuttlefish, shrimp fritters and acedías, a small sole that's hard to find outside Andalusia. The mixed fry to share is the way to try the lot. The house ensaladilla (potato salad) topped with shrimp is the other dish everyone orders, and from the meat side come torreznos (crispy pork belly) with patatas bravas, braised pork cheeks, oxtail and grilled Iberian cuts; there's also grilled rock octopus and fish of the day, such as gilt-head bream or John Dory. A nod to Mallorca: pa amb oli, with sobrassada or torreznos. For dessert, «grandma's cake», and to drink, well-pulled glasses of Águila beer. Portions are generous and prices are village-bar level; Joaquín is good at telling you what to order, so let him.
