One-day itinerary · East coast

A day in Artà

What to do in Artà in one day, in the order that makes sense: Capdepera Castle, Beni Axir and Cala Torta. With the times, the journeys and what it costs.

The times are planned for a Saturday in november, with sunset at 17:42: every place is open when you arrive, according to its hours. They change with the season and we review the plan every week.

Morning to mid-afternoon

Views in the morning, an unhurried lunch and the afternoon by the sea.

Go at a cool time of day, as the climb is hard in the heat. Check opening hours before you go: some have found it closed. Even if it says card only, there's a machine that takes cash. Half an hour is enough to see it.

  2. 18 min by car

    13:30
    Beni AxirLunch · ArtàBeni Axir

Go for lunch rather than dinner: at night you see neither the gardens nor the views. Satnavs get confused: go in through the estate’s main gate, ring the intercom and follow the private road; for the walk back to the car park after dark, bring a torch.

  3. 20 min by car

    16:00
Cala TortaCove or beach · ArtàCala Torta

Check the wind before you set off: with a tramuntana or any northerly, don't bother. Wear proper shoes, bring plenty of water and a parasol, and leave nothing in the car. For the way back, climb up via Cala Mitjana: the slope is gentler, and it usually has less seaweed too.
