A day in Valldemossa

What to do in Valldemossa in one day, in the order that makes sense: Esporles: Wood-Fired Paella at Chef Aina Aulí's Finca, Port de Valldemossa (Sa Marina) and Sa Fonda. With the times, the journeys and what it costs.

The times are planned for a Saturday in november, with sunset at 17:42: every place is open when you arrive, according to its hours. They change with the season and we review the plan every week.

Morning to mid-afternoon

Lunch is part of the experience; then a cove and a drink at sunset.

★ 5.0 · 5 h · from 149 €. A rice class for people who really want to learn, at Mallorcan chef Aina Aulí's private finca in Esporles, twenty minutes from Palma. It is more masterclass than tourist activity: the grain, the sofrito and above all…

Port de Valldemossa (Sa Marina)Cove or beach · ValldemossaPort de Valldemossa (Sa Marina)

Drive down in a small car an hour before sunset: there are few parking spaces, they fill up, and there's no bus. Book a table on Es Port's terrace for the sunset and drive back up slowly, as the road has few places to pass. In a north-westerly or tramontana the sea comes into the cove: don't swim that day.

For food, go early at lunchtime before the day-trip crowds arrive; for music, check their Instagram for gig nights. Parking in Deià is hard, so allow extra time.

It's mainly a lunch place (dinner only on some days) and has few tables, so book by phone and, in summer, several days ahead. The dining room is on a first floor reached by stairs, so it isn't wheelchair accessible.

Ask to try the Valldemossa blend or the Earl Grey Blue before you choose. If you like it, they ship from their online shop, so no need to fill your suitcase.
