Door 13

A speakeasy at number 13 Carrer de les Caputxines, just off La Rambla, with no sign and no doorman: you get in by ringing the bell or with the code they send if you message them on Instagram first. Inside it’s low ceilings, very dim light and furniture from different eras (sofas, armchairs, a mirrored dressing table) with a 1920s feel. The cocktail list is short and made in-house, backed by a good range of whiskies and gins, a house vermouth and mocktails for non-drinkers; the Paloma, with tequila, grapefruit and a pink salt rim, is a good bet, and in January they usually add a Sant Sebastià special. Several nights a week a live band plays, from jazz and swing to flamenco, with no DJ and no dance floor.
