Mestizo Palma

On Passeig de Mallorca, facing the Sa Riera watercourse, Mestizo is a tapas-and-beer bar built for the late-afternoon drinks crowd: high tables, a pavement terrace and music that climbs as the evening goes on. It opens mid-afternoon and on Fridays and Saturdays runs into the small hours, by which point it's more cocktail bar than tapas bar. The food is a short list of things to pick at with a beer; among the tapas there's a Mallorcan frit, the fried offal-and-potato dish, which you don't usually see in a bar like this. What people come for is the atmosphere: a young team that looks after its regulars, a crowd of all ages and an openly LGBTQ+-friendly vibe. For a proper dinner there are better options; for the first drink on a Friday it's one of the liveliest spots on the Passeig.
