OLIU Restaurant
Joan Porcel’s cooking in an old olive-oil mill in Andratx.
View in the app · free, no sign-upHalfway between Andratx and its port, on the stretch of road where there’s still countryside, Oliu occupies a house with a big stone wall, a large garden and a shaded terrace where you can eat for most of the year. It’s contemporary Mediterranean cooking, and the reason most people come is the tasting menu: a long run of small plates (about six savoury and two desserts) that changes often, pairs Mallorcan produce with outside influences and adapts easily to vegetarians and intolerances, with optional wine pairing. If you’d rather order à la carte, some dishes stand on their own: the house croquettes and alioli, which turn up on nearly every table; truffle parcels; a steak café de Paris that’s a fixture; tumbet and the odd rice dish. Front of house is known for being attentive and warm, and the chef often comes out at the end to go round the tables. It isn’t cutting-edge: some tasting-menu dishes (kataifi prawns, bao) will feel familiar if you eat out a lot. What it offers is a good, unhurried meal in a garden, with its own car park, at a fair price for the area.
