S'Escat
Concerts almost every week and jam sessions open to anyone
View in the app · free, no sign-upIt isn't a bar in the usual sense but an association: s'Escat was set up in Manacor to promote music and culture, was founded by musicians and relies mainly on its members and supporters, though the door is open to anyone. The venue is small, on Via Alemanya next to a park, and its reason for being is live jazz: concerts by musicians from the island and beyond, mostly at weekends, and jam sessions where local players take the stage, which have made Sunday afternoon a fixture for jazz fans in the east of the island. The programme is weekly and also includes swing days, improv theatre with musicians and masterclasses. There's a drinks service, but nobody comes for the bar: you come to listen up close, in an almost family atmosphere, to musicians who clearly enjoy playing. Few venues outside Palma programme jazz this regularly and at this level.
