UM Beach House

At kilometre 11 of the Andratx road, next to Puerto Portals, UM Beach House is beach club and restaurant at once, with a terrace over the sea, a pool and a bohemian, rustic-chic look that the group repeats at its venue in Santa Eulària, Ibiza. Music sets the pace: afro house and deep house from resident DJs every afternoon, carrying on live through dinner in high season, plus parties with guest artists they call «happenings». The food is Mediterranean with a Japanese influence, and that mix defines the menu: sushi and tuna tataki alongside paella, steak tartare and whole fish in a salt crust, plus octopus from the Josper grill. Signature cocktails are a big part of both the bill and the visit. The place has two sides: the pool area, with the music and the see-and-be-seen crowd (stag and hen parties included), and a quieter area set back where the music is softer. It suits anyone who wants a day moving between sunbed, table and cocktail with an international crowd; if you just want a good meal at a fair price or a calm afternoon, look elsewhere. On busy days table service slows down.
