Breakfast in Valldemossa

Breakfast in Valldemossa means coca de patata, the village's fluffy potato bun. Three places we have in the app:

  • Ca'n Molinas: family bakery since 1920. Order the coca de patata and, if the weather is nice, sit in its inner patio, which few people find.
  • Barbaflorida Cafè: on Plaça de la Cartoixa, with specialty coffee and home cooking; popular with hikers.
  • Roseta: a specialty coffee shop on a quiet street, with a window onto the valley. Have its homemade lemon cake with a flat white.

Tip: have breakfast before 9:30, before the coaches arrive, and park while it's still easy.

Ca'n Molinas was founded in 1920 by Miguel Cañellas and María Estrades and is now run by the third generation. The bakery is still on Carrer de la Rosa and the shop is on Via Blanquerna, with a shady back courtyard where you can sit. It opens early, so it's the best option for breakfast before the crowds arrive; in summer, try the almond granizado with your coca.

Roseta, at number 7 Carrer de la Rosa, is a small specialty coffee shop with a window looking over the valley, and dogs are welcome. Note that it doesn't open until mid-morning and closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so it's more for a second coffee than for breakfast. On Sundays there's a market in the village and everything fills up earlier: if you go that day, have breakfast early and park before 9.

What time do cafés open in Valldemossa?

Bakeries such as Ca'n Molinas open early, around 7 am, while many cafés in the centre don't open until mid-morning and some close a couple of days a week. If you want breakfast before 9, head to a bakery.
