A day trip around the north

A one-day route around the north, by car and with shoes for walking:

1. Breakfast in Alcúdia: at Fonda Llabrés, on Plaça de la Constitució, since 1957.
2. A cove on foot: Platja des Coll Baix, on the Alcúdia peninsula: dark shingle and blue water under cliffs, no facilities.
3. Lunch in Pollença: grilled meat at La Braseria, on the Pollença–Lluc road. If you'd rather have cheese and farm produce, Sa Cabreta, near Lluc.
4. Afternoon in Formentor: Cala Murta, pebbly and with no sunbeds, or Cala Castell, one of the wildest in the north, and the road out to Cap de Formentor, where the Tramuntana drops into the sea.

Take water and food for the coves: there are no facilities. In summer, car access to the Formentor lighthouse is restricted in the middle of the day; check this year's rules before you go.
