Anyone heading up to Lluc or down to the Port and Formentor drives right past it: La Braseria sits on the Ca'n Berenguer roundabout at the entrance to Pollença. From outside it looks like a roadside restaurant; inside, it's a well-kept, tastefully decorated place with air conditioning, and a big terrace that looks out over the countryside, set back from the traffic. It opens in the morning, with toast and coffee for breakfast, and at lunch and dinner the grill takes over. The most ordered cuts are the skirt steak (entraña), juicy and cooked just right, Angus picanha, entrecôte and secreto ibérico, along with barbecue ribs and roasted bone marrow to spread on bread. From the sea, grilled octopus (also as a skewer) and a corvina ceviche that's a surprise in a meat house. To start, ham and truffle croquetas; to finish, the cheesecake, made for sharing, or the Ferrero molten cake. There's a house burger, salads and vegetarian options for anyone not eating meat. Meat portions are on the small side for the price, and water and coffee are expensive, but the grilling is consistent and the young, friendly team has a good reputation. It's a good place to stop for lunch on the way to the mountains or the beach without going into town.
