Teixits Vicens

Factory and shop for roba de llengües, the Mallorcan 'tongue' fabric with its flame pattern, made with ikat: the threads are dyed before weaving, with the undyed parts tied off by hand. The family has woven in Pollença since 1854, when it was a small wool workshop. Martí Vicens and Antònia Capllonch shaped the designs and colours people know today, and their daughters Joana and Cati Vicens Capllonch now run it. Looms from the 1960s share the building with the shop: fabric by the metre, cushions, tablecloths, bags and clothing, with made-to-measure orders.
