A day in Andratx

What to do in Andratx in one day, in the order that makes sense: La Trapa, La Casita del Mar and Café Ca’n Viguet. With the times, the journeys and what it costs.

The times are planned for a Saturday in november, with sunset at 17:42: every place is open when you arrive, according to its hours. They change with the season and we review the plan every week.

Morning to mid-afternoon

An early hike, a well-earned lunch and something sweet to finish.

Do the loop clockwise from Sant Elm, which is easier. Allow at least an hour up and an hour down, bring water, and spring is best.

  2. 14 min by car

La Casita del MarLunch · AndratxLa Casita del Mar

The kitchen closes early, mid-afternoon, so it’s better for lunch than dinner. In winter they warn they may close on bad-weather days, so check Google Maps before you go; book through their website.

  3. 16 min by car

    16:00
Café Ca’n ViguetCoffee and cake · AndratxCafé Ca’n Viguet

It works as a stop on the way to Sant Elm or the Sa Dragonera boat, and there’s free street parking in the village. If you’re a big group, ask for an itemised bill: on fiesta days the bar gets swamped.

As the sun goes down

Sunset at 17:42, then dinner.

The path is marked only with cairns and stone arrows, so bring GPS or a downloaded route. Wear closed shoes, no flip-flops. From Sant Elm it's easier clockwise. The descent to the cove is very steep; if you're unsure, go back the way you came.

If you want paella, order it when you book through their website. You can’t see the sunset from the tables, so have a drink on the promenade first and walk up for dinner afterwards.

Another plan for the same day, indoors.

Open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm; closed on Sundays. Allow one to two hours. If you fall for a piece, they handle shipping and, if you like, hanging it in your home.

  2. 5 min on foot

    13:30
    Casa TonLunch · AndratxCasa Ton

Book by phone or through their website and ask then whether there are Mallorcan prawns: if none came in, they’ll tell you. The good table is in the inner courtyard, not on the pavement.

  3. 3 min on foot

    16:00
    Narez & Cuart — Port d’AndratxLocal shop · AndratxNarez & Cuart — Port d’Andratx

Try the croissant and the macarons, the house favourites. If you're celebrating something during your stay, order the cake in advance. If you need gluten-free for coeliac disease, check with them first.

Opening hours not confirmed: best to check before you go.
