Beach Club Gran Folies

Stepped down the rocky slope of Cala Llamp, the turquoise cove west of Port d'Andratx, Gran Folies bills itself as one of the oldest beach clubs in Mallorca. There's no sand: there are sunloungers and beds on the rock, a pool, a sun deck and steps down into the sea, which is good for snorkelling. You come to spend the day, not just to eat: a lounger in the morning, a table at lunchtime, a cocktail in the afternoon and back into the water. The food, overseen by chef Alex Arquero, mixes Mediterranean and international dishes across several menus and areas (main restaurant, bistro and VIP), and it performs best with the rice dishes. It has an unusual touch: a zodiac service that picks you up if you arrive by boat and anchor, or brings food out to you. In 2026 it revamped the menu, shorter and pricier. What you pay for is the setting, which wins almost everyone over; the price-to-plate ratio, less so. For a special day by the sea, with your wallet ready.
